Inaugural Nigerian Chess Club Rapid Chess Championship Lagos – November 2024

The Nigerian Chess Club (NCC) is a new Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in Nigeria with the primary goal of building a chess community of Nigerian players that can compete globally and take up spots in the ranking of the top 100 chess players in the world. Through active promotion of chess events, advocacy, provision of training and funding resources, we aim to accomplish the following key objectives:

To produce more active chess players and eventually more international titled Nigerian chess players.
To make chess more accessible to Nigerian chess lovers.
To provide international exposure to our best chess players.
To get more Nigerian chess players to be titled players like GM, IM, WGM, FM, etc.

Event Details:

This inaugural chess event is to introduce NCC to our local chess players in Lagos and other parts of the country. See event details below:

Format

Swiss system, 7 rounds in 3 Sections – OPEN; U-18; U-12. All Sections are rated FIDE

Time Control

15 mins + 30 secs increment. Clocks and chess sets are available for rent. You can bring your own.

Rounds @ 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm; 3:00pm and 4:00 pm.

Entry Fees

₦5,000 All Sections, before midnight on Nov 29th.
Add ₦2,000 after Nov 29th or on site.
No cash reimbursements.

Prizes: OPEN: 1st - ₦100,000; 2nd - ₦70,000; 3rd - ₦50,000; 4th - ₦35,000; 5th - ₦25,000; 6th - ₦20,000; 7th - ₦10,000; 8th - ₦10,000; 9th - ₦10,000; 10th - ₦10,000; 11th - ₦10,000; 12th - ₦10,000.

Top Lady: 1st - ₦40,000; 2nd - ₦20,000. Top U-18 : 1st - ₦20,000; 2nd - ₦10,000. Top U-12 : 1st - ₦20,000; 2nd - ₦10,000
